Who we are

The Gamer Pass (gp.iesf.org) is operated by the International Esports Federation (IESF), headquartered in Busan, South Korea. It gives esports players one durable public identity: official IESF tournament results, rankings, Academy achievements and linked gaming platforms.

This policy covers the Gamer Pass specifically. Sign-in uses the shared IESF account system, which has its own policy at iesf.org/privacy.

Gamer Passes are public by design

A Gamer Pass page shows a player's gamer tag, name, country, IESF competition history (tournaments, achievements, rankings), Academy record, and any platform data described below. Competition data comes from official IESF records — it is the sport's public record, like a results table, and cannot be self-edited.

Gamer Passes for players who competed in IESF events exist before anyone claims them, created from those official records. Claiming your Gamer Pass links it to your IESF account so you can add a photo, bio, socials and platforms, and control the optional sections. Claims are reviewed by your national federation.

Signed-in players can toggle the visibility of optional sections (hardware setup, education, professional info, platform data) from their dashboard.

Linked platforms

Linking platforms is optional and player-initiated. What each source adds to your public Gamer Pass:

  • Steam (linked via Steam sign-in): your Steam ID, profile name and avatar, owned games and playtime, per-game achievements and stats (only while your Steam profile and game details are set to Public), plus Steam level and VAC/game-ban status shown as trust signals.
  • Auto-discovered from your Steam ID: FACEIT (CS2 skill level, ELO, lifetime stats), Dota 2 via OpenDota (rank medal, win/loss, top heroes — only if you enabled Dota's "Expose Public Match Data"), and Leetify. For Leetify we store only the fact that a profile exists; the stats are fetched live from Leetify each time the tab is viewed and are never stored by us.
  • Declared handles (you type them yourself): Overwatch BattleTag (career data via the OverFast API) and Fortnite Epic Games name (stats via Fortnite-API.com). Declared handles are labeled as self-reported on your Gamer Pass, and one handle can only be declared on one Gamer Pass.

Unlinking a platform from your dashboard removes the data we stored for it. Data we fetch from these sources reflects their records, not ours — see their own privacy policies for how they handle your data.

Cookies

We use functional cookies only: session cookies that keep you signed in (including the shared iesf.org sign-on cookie) — no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. One more functional cookie, iesf_bid, is a random code that identifies this browser (not you) on all iesf.org sites. It gives no access to anything; it lets "sign out" on one IESF site sign you out of every IESF site in that browser, and it lasts up to 400 days. The Scout tool keeps anonymous shortlists in your own browser's storage; they never leave your device unless you sign in.

World Esports Championship entries

If your national federation enters you for a World Esports Championship, the entry forms on the Gamer Pass ask for the details the championship needs to run. Depending on the step, this is: your gamer tag, legal name, date of birth and shirt size; your game IDs; a photograph; if you are a minor, the name, email address and relationship of a parent or guardian who must agree; your passport number, expiry date and a scan of the passport; your arrival and departure dates and your flight ticket; visa details (nationality, phone number, place of birth, home address, passport issue date and city, passport type, the country, city and airport you fly from, and a visa photo); dietary requirements and anything we should do so you can take part fully (these can reveal health information, so each is optional); and an emergency contact.

This information is shared with IESF and with the local organisers of the championship, so they can register you, arrange accreditation, travel and visas, and look after you at the event. The full notice for the championship, including who sees each item and how long each is kept, is at iesf.org/privacy.

Invitation links. The invitation email your federation sends contains a personal link (/me/invite/…). The link itself is the credential: it is not indexed by search engines, and it only links the entry to the IESF account registered under the email address the invitation was sent to. Do not forward it.

Event operations tools. The /ops tools are for IESF event staff only and sit behind a staff passcode. They record who is accredited for an event (name, country, role and profile picture), the zones that role may enter, and each time an accreditation badge is scanned at a zone (the result, the direction and the time). They are not used for anything else.

How data is used and shared

Data appears on public Gamer Pass pages, rankings, the player directory, the Scout tool, and shareable Gamer Pass images. Public pages may be indexed by search engines. We do not sell personal data. Third-party platform APIs are called server-side to populate the sections described above.

Your rights

You can claim and edit your Gamer Pass, toggle section visibility, and unlink platforms at any time from your dashboard. For access, correction or deletion requests — including for unclaimed Gamer Passes — email [email protected] or contact your national esports federation. Official competition results are part of the sport's historical record; disputes about them are handled through your national federation.

Retention and minors

Profile and platform data is kept while the Gamer Pass exists; official competition results are retained as IESF's historical record. Some competitors are minors registered through their national federations — parents or guardians can contact us at the address above about a minor's data.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and adjust the effective date above. Significant changes will be announced on the site.
